ENSA Bourges

Très désagréablement surpris par la découverte d'un corps enseignant autant auto-centré sur eux même avec aussi peu d'ouverture d'esprit envers les personnes étrangères à l'Art et voulant se renseigner sur l'école et les domaines d'activités. J'espère de tout cœur que les étudiants ne deviennent pas comme ça en sortie.

Les lieux sont agréables, accessibles au handicap

Directrice très désagréable qui m'a denigrée de tout le long de mon oral et qui m'a laissée comprendre que j'avais rien à faire ici. Même payée je serai pas venue là-bas tellement ils sont nuls. Ils sont pas drôles et giga prétentieux , et tfaçon jsuis prise aux Beaux-Arts d'Orléans qui est mille fois mieux et le plafond s'écroule pas là-bas au moins. J'ai mis une étoile pour les pattes gratos le midi.

Beaux bâtiments. C'est très intéressant de faire les portes ouvertes.

Jamais une école n'a été aussi loin de tout et pourtant aussi proche de l'enfer

My experience at the Beaux-Arts de Bourges is from of couple years ago now. It took me time to decide if I should speak up or not. It is a good school that offers good education and very nice space to work, however, I have been one of many students there to suffer from the lack of boundaries there is between teacher/student, in two ways: my work mainly centered back then in ceramics, until my ceramics teacher, Laurent, told me he fell in love with me and when I refused his advances, completely ignored me and hence compromised my use of the facilities and me working in this medium. Following this incident, I had express some health concerns to my then department chair, artist Ingrid Luche, to which she replied 'if you were really unwell, you would be in the hospital. I cannot make an exception for you.' I promised to work really hard, and as I did the best I could, came the day of the presentation. That day, I was very happy with the work I had done and the presentation, but during the feedback, Ingrid Luche proceeding in yelling, which is completely inappropriate, her voice taking all the space of the studio and said, I quote 'that my ceramics were merely pieces of soil and that I had put no work in at all', and went on a rent yelling from the bottom of her throat atrocities that were both insulting to me and my work. Laurent, the ceramics teacher, did not take my defense, I am guessing since I had pushed him away, romantically. Of course, I did not pass the year, but in addition, I got really low grades based, not on the quantity of work, but on the opinions, it seemed, of the teachers. This happened to myself and another student, as far as I know. It felt we couldnt express our worries to the director, and it took 5 more years for me to be able to go back to school. I think there should be firm boundaries and protocols established in terms of teacher/student relationships, as well as the way a teacher is allowed to give feedback to the students. Comments such as 'your work is awful', etc are not constructive nor educational, and yelling in such a way should not be permitted. Hopefully there will be some actions following this.
